Education and training
After completing her MBBS at BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, Dr. Hetan pursued an MD in Medicine at Sheth K.M. School of Post Graduation Medicine & Research, Ahmedabad. She completed her DNB in Cardiology at Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai. She has done observerships at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Toronto General Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Conferences and academic leadership
Dr. Hetan has served on the organising committees of conferences including IJCTO 2013; the live telecast of complex angioplasty, the role of the Absorb stent, from Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, in 2013; TCT MD, San Francisco, 2011; the Echocardiographic Workshop on Coronary Artery Disease Conference in Mumbai; and the Interesting Case / Echo / Cath Workshop of the Master Teachers Academy Program in Mumbai.
She has chaired international conferences on the estimation of complex valvular lesions on echocardiography and on the estimation of pulmonary hypertension and coronary artery disease. She took part in a panel discussion at the Cardiology Summit of India 2006, sharing the dais with Dr. Jane Somerville.
Community work
Dr. Hetan strongly believes in providing her services in rural parts of India. She has provided honorary services at Sadguru Seva Sangh, Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, since 2009, and has conducted health camps through Chandrakamal Memorial Trust, Ahmedabad, providing free services to poor and needy patients.
She is an honorary member of a team of cardiologists diagnosing and treating heart disease in remote rural and desert areas of Kutch, Gujarat. Since 1998 she has been involved in a project sponsored by Shri Limbodara Sewa Samaj for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease at Limbodara village, Mehsana, Gujarat.
